GREAZE: grime music zine 2023
For this magazine spread, I was tasked with educating readers about the rise of grime and its origins. The challenge was balancing the editorial content with stunning imagery, ensuring each photo was given the attention it deserved without overcrowding the layout. The design was inspired by a blend of 90s/2000s magazine aesthetics and hip hop influences, aiming to evoke a nostalgic yet contemporary feel while respecting the cultural significance of the genre.
PHOTOBOOK DOCUMENTING MY FILM PHOTOGRAPHY
LOOK through MY OLYMPUS
This project is a visual exploration of my journey through film photography, capturing different chapters of my life with each roll of film. I wanted the images to be the main focus, using a simple design with a white background and black text to highlight the personal moments behind each shot.
Some spreads featured full-page images, emphasising the intimacy and importance of the photos. Each spread represented a different roll of film, allowing me to reflect on and tell the story of my life through a visual diary.
mobile app design
Rinse FM APP REDESIGN
The Rinse FM app redesign aimed to modernise the user experience while staying true to the station's experimental vibe. With a dark, neon-infused design that mirrors Rinse’s evolving aesthetic, the app centres on live radio streaming and on-demand content. It allows users to download and save DJ sets for offline listening, offering an alternative to platforms like YouTube and SoundCloud. This creates a dedicated space for Rinse FM’s content, keeping it aligned with the brand while enhancing user accessibility and engagement.
abstract non-fiction article on black holes
Black holes
The magazine about black holes was designed to educate readers on the mysteries of black holes through intriguing abstract designs that kept the content engaging. The dark imagery, scientific grid drawings, and strong gradients with a grainy texture created a grungy, almost old-school scientific feel, making the topic visually compelling. The layout and typography were carefully chosen to complement the theme, ensuring a balanced and immersive experience. By using creative and abstract elements, the project stood out as a unique and engaging approach to learning about the universe’s most fascinating phenomena.
Interactive website
music and the brain
This interactive website was designed to educate users on how different genres of music affect the brain while offering a seamless and enjoyable experience. Inspired by a desire to step away from the overly commercial web format, the site avoided intrusive elements like email sign-ups, focusing instead on creating a clean, purposeful design. Features like light and dark mode and an interactive chart key allowed users to explore how music impacts various aspects of the brain. Backed by research from relevant studies, the project balanced scientific accuracy with user-friendly design, ensuring accessibility and engagement. Ultimately, the goal was to deliver a platform that both informed and inspired curiosity about music’s profound effects.
Vintage store event marketing & content creation
Resurrection
The giveaway announcement for the vintage store in Liverpool was designed to increase engagement, particularly with the influx of new and returning students. The goal was to create excitement around the store’s offerings while attracting the local student demographic. To resonate with this audience, I used user-generated and employee-generated content following the giveaway to highlight the diverse range of clothing in the store. The design maintained the store’s iconic orange and black colour scheme, which is instantly recognisable on Bold Street, paired with modern streetwear-inspired typography and illustrations. This approach ensured the content felt fresh and relatable, while reinforcing the store's unique style and connection to the local community.
